The seventh Saturday of October has arrived, marking the completion of all my assignments for the mathematical physics course, filling me with immense joy. Today, during the mathematical physics lecture, I plan to hand them over to my mentor, Dr. Sufyan Tayeh, who has been a guiding figure akin to a spiritual father. My aspiration is to follow in his footsteps one day.
As I ready my children for school, the disturbing noise of shelling echoes through the air. For days, we endure this distressing situation, with the intensity of the shelling escalating in our city of Gaza, particularly in the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood, a place gripped by terror and fear.
After a night spent seeking refuge from the bombardment on the streets, we are forced to flee to the southern regions of the Gaza Strip. Rushing back to my home, I gather essential belongings, including my notebooks, books, and meticulously crafted assignments destined for my mentor.
Our journey of displacement commences towards the south, away from the relentless bombing, as we desperately seek safety. Despite the tough times, I hold onto hope, wishing for things to get better and for life to return to normal.
Yet, the situation only worsens, and devastating news reaches me: my mentor, Dr. Sufyan Tayeh, has passed away. It feels like all my aspirations have been shattered, and amidst the chaos of war, my motivation to study diminishes.
Struggling to cope with and escape this challenging reality, I chance upon the PSSAR announcement, a ray of hope in the darkness. I diligently applied, and to my relief, I was granted acceptance. This opportunity became a guiding light in my life, renewing my hope and determination to pursue my dreams.
With heartfelt gratitude, I thank God for this chance to forge ahead on my journey.
